Poolside in February
It was a warm day for February today, even for Florida… and while they are getting hammered up north by snow, we decided it was time for Evelyn to don her bikini and try out her new kiddie pool. The Bubble Hurricane toy made it extra fun! More pictures HERE.
First Shad of 2014

It was super windy today so the fishing was tough. I caught this fish using a #6 Pink/ White Kip Tailed Clouser with 5/32 hourglass eyes using my 7wt rigged with an AirFlo Extra Super Fast Sinking leader. There were more airboats on the water than I have ever seen ( like 50) due to some Gator Shootout or something. The noise and general jackassery frustrated Marci and I so much that we left the water early, even though the Shad seemed to have finally arrived. The run has started later this year than years past, probably due to the warm fall and winter. Note to my future self, double check when the Loughman Lake Lodge Gator Shootout is happening for the year, and avoid Jolly Gator at all costs that weekend.
Here is the 2013/ 2014 fly box:
Pink, Pink/ White, Orange, Orange/ White kip tailed clousers dominated the December tying sessions this year. I did not add any new chartreuse patterns this year as they have not worked as well as pink and orange flies. There are still plenty of shad darts left from prior years, but the kip tailed clouser has really become my fly of choice. Only when the bite is tough do I tend to try older/ different patterns. There are a couple of other patterns for panfish/ bass if the shad are not cooperating.

Evelyn with Lights
This absolutely warms my heart and puts me in a Christmas spirit the likes I have never experienced!!!
Lil’ Punkin
Well… Gigi said that she was going to make a pumpkin costume for Evelyn, and once again she did not disappoint!
Here are more pictures of Evelyn’s first Halloween costume.
4 Month Milestones
Evelyn has started to use her exersaucer with the help of a small towel around her tummy for support and a pillow below her to help her stand. It is quite entertaining to watch her explore. Marci and I refer to her as the “CBO,” or Chief Baby Officer because she reminds us of an executive at their desk.
She has also joined us at the table in her high chair and even started tasting some food. These pictures are of her trying a not so ripe banana. She has also tried some of our sweet potatoes and even a pickle. We were surprised that she enjoyed sucking on a dill spear!
🙂
You see it’s great to be a Florida Gator

Evelyn at 12 Weeks
Evelyn is 12 weeks old today! So much has changed in 6 weeks. She is smiling, starting to laugh, and clearly recognizes her parents, grandparents, and bottle. She has very good head control, tries to hold her own bottle, rolls on her side, sleeps in her crib (the WHOLE night) and has even slept several nights this week in jammies instead of the swaddle (woohoo!) She still HATES the car seat (BOOOO!)
Marci and I have been having fun playing with her, and of course taking pictures. HERE are more pictures of Evelyn at 12 weeks.
Wall Art
We received our wall art this week from Mike and Ann | Visual Story Tellers and I got the last of the canvases hung today. The finished product is beautiful and we could not be happier with our purchase! More pictures HERE.
