Evelyn’s Newborn Session

Evelyn's Newborn Session

Today was Evelyn’s newborn session with Mike Buoy of Mike and Ann | Visual Story Tellers. Mike and I worked together at OutStart for years before he made the jump to fulltime professional photographer. I continued to secretly “stalk” him and Ann online after he left the software business… checking out every new post that they made to their BLOG. I was amazed at their talent, and of the beauty that they were creating daily. When I asked Marci to marry me, I already knew that they were the ones that I wanted to document our engagement and wedding. I showed Marci some of their work, and after meeting them for a consultation during a lunch break one afternoon, she quickly agreed that they were the photographers for us. It was only natural that when we decided to start a family, we would once again seek them out to document another incredibly important part of our lives together. He did a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of our newborn child in a natural way.

Check out more of the beautiful PICTURES.

Back Home!

After 5 1/2 long days in the hospital, we are back home! The moment Marci and Evelyn got discharged, it was like a mad dash to make the first transport out of there. The whole thing felt like a scene from a prison break movie. LOL. It was like we wanted to hurry as fast as we could before someone figured it out and told us we had to stay longer. But we made it and never looked back. It is so nice to be at home!

Happy Birthday Evelyn

Evelyn's Birth

She is here and she is beautiful! Evelyn was born at 12:55am on Jun 19th. She weighed 7 pounds and 11 ounces and was 21 inches long. The journey started on Sunday June 16th when Marci was admitted to Winnie Palmer Hospital to begin induction. Marci was given 4 rounds of misoprostol over two days, and was then given a cervical balloon after she did not progress. The balloon brought her to 4cm and on Tuesday the 18th around 5pm, she was moved to Labor and Delivery to begin administering Pitocin. After 7 hours of labor, she only progressed to 5cm, and after Evelyn’s heart rate dropped for a short period, the decision was made to deliver her via Caesarian.

Seeing our new baby for the first time was probably the most emotional moment of each of our lives, and something we will never forget! I can’t express how proud of Marci I am, and how amazed I am by her strength and courage.

HERE are more pictures of her birthday.

Her due date came… and went….

So our sweet Evelyn disregarded the fact her due date was June 7th. Today is June 8th, and no sign of the munchkin. Chad and I were not prepared for  this one! We figured she would arrive sometime earlier this week. We visited Dr. Diebel for our 40 week appointment on June 6th and my blood pressure was a bit high. He wanted to make sure the baby wasn’t in any stress, so I went through a non-stress test. The NST is a monitor using two straps around my abdomen, one that monitors contractions, the other monitors fetal heart beat. For twenty minutes, Chad and I got to sit in recliner chairs while the monitors worked along. It was neat to hear her heartbeat for 20 minutes, it is interesting how quickly the fetal heart beats and any movement results in rapid increase, then decrease of the counts. She scored great, she was not stressed.

He asked us to come back the next morning to get my BP tested. It was fine. Dr. Diebel recommended we stay the course and wait another week until we talk about induction. We are going back to visit Dr. Diebel the last day of 41 weeks, but hopefully she will come on her own sometime this week.

I would be lying if I wasn’t a little disappointed…. We are so excited to meet her, I am feeling that maternal instinct to hold her coming on so strong these days. I guess she is really snuggly in my tummy and she is happy to hang out in there until she is ready. We are waiting….. 🙂
